How to Record Macro in MS Excel

             Macro is one one of the most important tools provided by MS Excel. If you have the  report or data to prepare or process repeatedly in similar ways .ie. the same steps to be followed. Then the Macro can help you and save your time. Once you have recorded the macro, next time whenever you you have to prepare same report/ data, RUN the MACRO, Your report will be automatically  prepared. If you are aware of Visual Basics, you can also edit the macro recorded. There are following steps to record the macro in MS Excel.

Steps to Record Macro:

  1. Create Excel Workbook
  2. Save the workbook as "Excel Macro-Enabled Workbook (*.xlsm)
  3. Open 'Record Macro' under the DEVELOPER Tab (If DEVELOPER Tab is not available in ribbon, Enable it in the Customized ribbon in Excel options.)
  4. Assign the macro name & shortcut key for Macro to be recorded
  5. Start your work in excel to be recorded
  6. Perform all the steps upto end of the preparation of the report
  7. Once you have finished your job save your job, Click Stop Recording  under the DEVELOPER Tab
  8. Now if you have to repeat your job, you need not to repeat the job. Just open Macros  under the DEVELOPER Tab & RUN the Macro recorded.
  9. Your report will automatically prepared and you time will be saved.
